August 15, 2019 - Good wine just not open for business. Started with a lot of menthol and eucalyptus but over the course of the evening opened up with more fruit. Quite lush but the oak is a bit too dominant at this point. Structure and acidity makes me think this isn’t a very long haul wine but I think this will be quite a bit better in a few years.

August 3, 2019 - Anniversary dinner at a local steak house with an incredibly deep wine list that I reviewed for a couple days beforehand. Opted for the Kata, just over a '14 Pott single vineyard St. Helena cab, and '13 Mayacamas on the advice of the restaurant's wine guy. (They have a master sommelier, but she's on vacation).

Splash decant and enjoyed over 2 hours. A longer decant was called for, but obviously not possible. Just wonderful. This wine is refined and elegant with big shoulders and a finish that goes on forever.

The notes of others here were spot on, while mine is sorely lacking detail. You folks were how Kata got on my radar, so mainly checking here to say "thanks everyone!"

One thing to note otherwise, This bottle was perfectly cellareed since release, but the wine had creeped up to almost the top of the cork - perhaps to within 1/16" of the top. The cork itself didn't seem to be of the same quality I see in Outpost, or O'Shaugnessy bottles. Perhaps this a one off as no one else here has noted it. But if you're blessed with a few of these bottles in your cellar, you may want to check in on one soon.

June 1, 2019 - Really nice with an unusual minty/licorice essence that immediately got our attention. Pours exceptionally dark (the Petite Sirah contribution we guessed).
Very bright and youthful but mature tasting all at the same time.
If drinking today, and it is beautiful today, give it at least a two hour decant. However, I can see it improving in complexity and integration of all the parts over the next 3-5 years when it should really hit its stride.

March 3, 2019 - Braxton Cellars Cellar Raid (Libertyville, IL): Lots of spice. Spice city actually. Tons of red fruit but sporting some heat on the nose as well. Touches of smokey savory.

February 22, 2019 - decanted for a couple hours, proved to be a classic, big aroma of coffee, mocha, cedar and raspberry jam, classy, elegant, and super sexy, feels plush, the palate shows espresso, cherry, cassis and cocoa, the long finish sails on and on with a distinct chocolate covered orange character, was a perfect accompaniment with a center-cut rib eye steak blanketed with a rich balsamic glaze, drinking well now with no signs of slowing down, one of my personal best wine experiences
