July 11, 2021 - Electric fruit…drawing out gaining a little secondary spice…rudimentary and a little out of balance …which works for pizza wine :). Amazing this has aged easily for 7 years .
March 9, 2021 - Bright berry nose. Lush, sweet fruit, raspberry, blackberry. Fine tannins, great acidity and balance. Hint of anise on mid-palate. Finishes moderately long with spice and red fruits. Lovely, classic Zinfandel. Not at the level of Mike's SV Zins, but that's a pretty high bar. Drink over next 2 years. Note: I posted this mistakenly as the Carlisle Vineyard. That note has been deleted; ignore it if you have already read it.
January 24, 2021 - Hard to come up with new superlatives for this QPR champ. Another solid showing. Right in the zone, leans toward purple fruit and soft tannins. I think this was the vintage that transitioned to screw caps, still fresh! In a good spot right now, I'll look enjoy my final bottle from the vintage soon.
December 20, 2020 - Decanted a half hour. Nice raspberry/brambleberry aromas. Quite a bit of zip on the palate - I think in part because this hadn't fully warmed up, but also surprisingly good acid balance. Great with grilled lamb chops! 3 hours later more rich, plum fruit emerged, some blueberry notes also. My wife said "$20 for this quality? You shoulda bought a case!!" Anyhow - still has room to improve, so 90-91.
October 29, 2020 - Delaware BeachHouse Weekend (Rehoboth Beach): Great value play. Straightforward cherry and plum flavors are accented by more sophisticated menthol and lavender elements. A little bottle age probably helped this reach a new plateau.
September 19, 2020 - tasted with the 2013 version. Nice, still young
August 10, 2020 - Dark blue fruit with blueberry, cassis and some bramble
August 8, 2020 - Wow! Near outrageous quality in this ‘bottom level’ Carlisle. What in the world?! Usually, it lacks the body of the bigger wines, but perhaps due to the great vintage, this had a fuller body than usual. What a QPR Slam Dunk!
May 3, 2020 - Lovely floral zin. Bright with some spices, purple flowers. Not too heavy with just a bit of sweetness. Fully resolved, drinking well. Very nice and a steal for the release price ($20).
February 19, 2020 - No notes beyond this bottling represents a solid QPR. Perfumed nose, black and red fruit on the palette, nice mouthfeel, and medium finish. Wine drank well on PNP, but it opened up materially after 24-hours after being opened an re-sealed.
