November 28, 2021 - A great wine no doubt. Lush and full bodied. The provenance of the fruit is unmistakeable. Needs at least 2 hours to open up.

Enjoyed over thanksgiving dinner. I can think of a few wines a tenth of the price that drink as well, but alas, i doubt it’d generate the same excitement. Will drink well in its prime for another decade, but definitely needs a decant.

August 21, 2021 - First ever hundred pointer on CT (or elsewhere) for me. Tasted blind from Coravin sample in a lineup of 2013 Napa cabs. Immediately after putting my nose in the glass it was “holy sh** what is this?!?” (Though I did have some idea since I knew *which* wines were poured). Quite frankly this is everything it should be: pure fruit, light on it’s feet, depth and complexity of flavor and aroma, and finish that both runs on forever (while evolving) and begs you to come back for another sip. Hats off … this couldn’t be better … first 100 point score ever.

    October 4, 2020 - Great Cab ...
Hard to ever rationalize a $2000 price-point, but still a Great Cab.

October 4, 2019 - Tasted blind. Tasting this wine from this mythical winery was a first for me and a great experience… but I would wish we would have done that in 10+ years. Unfortunately, our very generous donor picked probably the one out of many Screaming Eagle vintages in his cellar which is currently the least open and ready for party. So we got only a glimpse of what this beauty has in store. The highlight for me: the strong terroir expression and the very luxurious structure. 94 to 95 points with upside once mature. I wouldn‘t open any bottles before 2028.

TN: Rather muted nose with some slate and dark fruit. A bit more open on the palate with very well-delineated but not overly intense aromas of wet slate, dark fruit, with time more and more red berries with extremely soft and pure cherries and strawberries, some herbs and just hints of coffee and cocoa. Very soft and luxurious tannin structure and a good freshness.

Decanting: Decanted for roughly 3h which was not enough (I guess this one would currently need at least 8h+).
