April 6, 2014 - Last bottle and still going very strong. Very dark, black plum centre, dark plum robe, still very young on the rim, just a tinge of garnet. Intense nose, full and fragrant, dark fruit, notes of iodine, tar, diried herbs. Full bodied, ripe, nice sweetness initially, dark berry and blackcurrant fruit, good acidity, some soft tannins, delicious long finish. Overall this was very tasty and a nice match with my meal of wine braised short-ribs. Some of the distinctiveness of thsi wine has mellowed with age, but for the money this is exceptional value and it has stood the test of time nicely.

March 25, 2014 - This is coming around. Still has a funk filled nose, but the funk is starting to integrate with red and black fruit, herbs and meat notes. Palate has medium to full body with concentrated fruit. Balancing acidity gives this lift and persistence. Medium+ finish of herbs, pepper and fruit lingers. Will be interesting to see how this unfolds with more time. Balanced with lots of character for <$20.

January 16, 2013 - Day one: popped and poured. It brought the funk at first, but this soon blew off and gave way to a tart & tarry, herbaceous bitter cherry beast. Good structure. Day two: intriguingly medicinal -- a nose suggestive of some continental digestif or another -- but a definite falling off.
