April 18, 2024 - My first time with this vintage of La Romanee and a real priviledge to taste during a luncheon with L-M. Three bottles were opened and all were very consistent. Initially as one would expect it is a young wine that needs some air in the glass to reveal incredible balance, some wonderful pine nuts on the nose, a very ethereal mouthfeel with formidable texture and energy. It kept growing in the glass and most definitely a wine I would hold off on for 10 years to reveal it's full potential which seem enormous if it is in your cellar. However, as with all CLB wines, it certainly drinks today already (if you must)! 97 for me today but it will have the potential to add another point or two no doubt. Special by any means and most certainly incredible for the vintage.

July 26, 2023 - Opened at 430pm for dinner drinking and nose was delicate floral and generous at dinner but only got better with more air. From the beginning there was a beautiful concentration and fine elegant tannins but with more air this also became more ethereal with tea leaves, delicate spices and just a long generous finish. Drank next to 06/13/19 vintages. The 19 stole the show and will be the best wine, the 13/14 were similar. The 06 had beginnings of secondary flavours. I preferred the 14 over the 13 but others enjoyed the 13.

June 24, 2023 - Somewhat closed intially. But still showing notes of blue fruit, rhubarb, spice and meaty notes. Palate was more linear than I expected even after 3 hours of air. A serious wine that needs more time.

April 22, 2018 - Rhubarb, strawberry, chalky mineral. This is so beautifully balanced and finish is endless. There's a touch of tannin digging in on the finish but not nearly as much as one might expect of a wine so young. The longer it sat in the glass, the better it got. Weightless power, the epitome of elegance. In the end I guessed correctly because the mineral elegance here was reminiscent of the 15 Chaumes.

April 22, 2018 - Somebody Was Going to Commit Burgundy Infanticide...It Might as Well be Us (Austin, TX): Opened and decanted for 2 hours, then served single blind alongside Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 2014 Romanée-Conti. Black and red cherry with little spice to start, but within 15 minutes lots of Asian five spice and complexity started to emerge. Firm and powerful, while also far more accessible vs the RC. Hints of greatness here. Certainly 96-97+ point potential.
