June 24, 2019 - Floral, spice, and red candy nose. Medium bodied, fully extracted cherries, cranberries, sage, soft tannins, a bit of pepper, and a long, almost dry finish. A fruit bomb, but a good one.
January 22, 2019 - This wine failed to impress me. It clearly exceeded other people's expectations but not mine.
I would categorize it as an average table wine.
June 11, 2018 - Been awhile since we had one of these. Spicy purple fruits. Needs about an hour decant. Very enjoyable for a lower priced, hand crafted wine.
February 23, 2018 - Really pleasant wine. Nose was relatively light when I first opened the bottle, with bright red fruits, with some meaty notes on the back end. Surprisingly light, with silky tannins and a definitely meaty finish.
After being decanted for about an hour and a half, it picked up a ton of body. The nose added a hint of baking spices, but the bg change was on the palate: picked up dark, rich cherries with some cocoa powder as well. It became very full bodied with smooth velvety tannins. The meaty element was relegated to the finish, which went on for a solid 30 seconds.
Good stuff.
February 19, 2018 - A blend of Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese, Teroldego, Aglianico, and a few other grapes, across three vintages. The nose is unusual, and I have difficulty pinning it down. Neither floral nor fruity; there are hints of underbrush and menthol, but also something else I can’t place. Inky purple in the glass. The palate offers brambly blackberries, road tar, savory cumin, and slightly tart black cherries lifted by piquant acidity. The medium length finish shows drying tannins. An interesting wine, but not quite my cup of tea.
August 9, 2017 - Strawberry, balanced, long finish
March 5, 2017 - Not sure what's all in here, but it works. Fun, interesting wine.
March 2, 2016 - Pleasant aromas of black cherry, raspberry and cocoa powder. The palate shows a wider mix of red/black berries, plum, cocoa and earth. 15.1% but doesn't show it. Medium acid/tannins/finish; nice blend.
February 8, 2016 - Really interesting blend - Petite Sirah, Viognier (!), Aglianico, Teroldego, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese, Zinfandel and Merlot. From multiple vintages (2012, 2013 and 2104) - per the data sheets. The Petit Sirah shines through - lots of blackberry jam and pepper. Opened up quite a bit after one hour.
