June 5, 2023 - See my notes below
May 20, 2023 - A very big wine at 14.5% ABV.
Colour: v deep cherry red, v thin rim, purple tinge.
Nose: v full, fresh, q alcoholic unsurprisingly, brambles, dense, spice
Taste: med body, rounded, hot, spice dominates over brambly fruit, long finish, spicy and a touch bitter.
Overall, a fascinating take on Super Tuscan blend of PV, M and CS in that order. Not sure it is my cup of tea because it is over extracted.
April 3, 2023 - Again an excellent display with lots of freshness, high intensity acids, minerals and juicy red forest berries.
March 28, 2023 - Consistent with my notes below
June 13, 2022 - Consistent with my note of January '22
June 6, 2022 - Corked
January 3, 2022 - Consumed after Ixsir's grande reserve 2011 and it is immediately clear that monteti is the better wine. Dark, brooding, smoky, really blasting after 30 minutes of air. We emptied the bottle quickly...
December 2, 2021 - I think this wine is in a slightly closed fase. It performed well just after uncorking but with extra oxygen the tannins were showing a bit too much. As usual giving a lovely display of herbs. I won't touch my next bottle the first 3 years.
September 27, 2021 - Seems like this might be in its peak drinking window. Tannins are very well integrated and still plenty of fruit. Very easy and enjoyable, and great with homemade italian tomato soup.
December 23, 2020 - Nice dark fruit. Not very complex, finish left wanting a bit.
