April 30, 2021 - Picked up a bottle secondhand and was itching to try a DiCostanzo with some more bottle age. Very nice wine- plenty of room to go on this. A bit of a sour cherry, tart, not overly tannic, but a bit of blueberry and some dustiness. Pure fruit, well made wine. Could see it going to 96 with another year or two.

April 22, 2021 - Opened a 2017 previously and incredibly tannic. This was amazing in comparison. Could use a little more time but great right now as well.

February 26, 2021 - Great old world style Napa Cab. Decanted for two hours and was still tight but after 3 hours it opened up with flavors of tobacco, earth, cassis and red fruits. I’m glad I have a couple more bottles as this wine will continue to improve.

January 30, 2021 - Reasonably fashioned Napa Cab with a good earthy flavor and rich black currant fruit. Not overdone and I like the style but the tannins are a bit austere and obtrusive. Perhaps time will be this wine's friend...88?

January 28, 2021 - The '13 Farella is a beautiful, savory Cabernet. The nose was nicely perfumed with inky, dark red and purple fruits, graphite, lavender, licorice, and smoke. On the palate, I found a core of dark red fruit, savory herbs, and graphite, and the wine was medium bodied with a good level of acidity maintaining freshness. At the back end of the palate, the tannins kicked in and they remain potent and drying, needing more time to integrate.

I found the '13 to already be quite drinkable and expressive today, but it will probably be best in the medium term 5-10 years from now when the tannins better integrate.
