April 12, 2019 - Purple in color. 15.1% ABV. Pretty nose of black fruits, earth, licorice and pepper. Full bodied with ample acidity. Tart black cherry, currants and aspirin on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. The hero here is the nose and despite the palate being somewhat disjointed upon opening the wine is easy enough to enjoy and the aspirin taste dissipated with some time in the glass. If I had to do this over I would decant the wine for an hour or so. Best over the next several years.
January 12, 2019 - Decanted 1/2 hr. Tart red berry tastes. Ok, but don't want another, although it did taste good at the tasting room.
May 21, 2018 - this particular bottle was not my favorite. A bit too thin and bright. Loved it at the tasting room, though, so this may be a one-off.
December 25, 2017 - Aromas of anise/licorice and blackberry. Nose shows a lot of VA, to be honest. It’s interesting, but masks additional depth. Palate has good acid but not tramendous structure. Fun, but nothing special.
November 25, 2016 - Lovely red blend of Grenache & Carignane. Bought this blindly when I was at the Turley tasting room several months ago, and it did not disappoint! Paired incredibly well with our Thanksgiving dinner!
November 7, 2016 - Tasted at the tasting room in Paso Robles, 60/40 blend of Grenache/Carnignane. Plenty of juicy Grenache fruit with hints of spice and earth, outstanding concentration and ripeness one would expect from Turley.
