October 1, 2021 - Nice complex aromas developing, dark fruited, red and purple, underlined with white pepper, 5 spice, little oak still to be resolved. Med weight, lengthy fine tannins.
Def a cool climate style, but a slightly riper profile. Enjoyable now, but another 5 should be singing. 94+

March 1, 2020 - It was an enjoyable shiraz that ticks the boxes for an aussie cool climate shiraz. However it was lacking the wow factor that I expect from an $80 bottle of wine..... meh.

September 29, 2019 - Intense red fruit. Lots of cherries. A little too much, and a little monotonous. Lacks complexity, but good balance and length.

August 11, 2018 - Syrah from Afar with a Champagne Flight to start (Long Island, NY): 7/12 wines tasted single blind. Nose is more to the jammy heavily fruited side. Color is dark red leaning to purple. On the palate a bit of heat on entry and then lots of dark ripe fruit. Seems more new world in style from a warm climate and quite young. I think this maybe one to enjoy in its youth for it exuberance and lip smacking fruit but not sure it has the structure to age as gracefully as the others in the line up.

August 11, 2018 - An Afternoon in LI w/Friends (Champagne Reception, Syrah from Afar) (Long Island): Threw this into the line-up to see how it handled itself recognizing there are a number of wines that were many multiples of what this cost. Interesting split in the group. I got some fruit and alcohol and spice. I knew it was younger. I thought stood up well compared to some of the other young wines, but not really at the same level as some of the more aged gems.
