April 25, 2020 - The Might of Madeira with Demetri Walters MW (Zoom!): Creamy nose, with toasted nuts. Dark caramel and apricot jam - like Sachertorte. Rich, gastronomic and persistent

June 22, 2019 - From 75cl. Opened a month ago, we hoped it might improve, but meh... The Oliveiras Terrantez 1988 vividily in memory; this is the lesser wine by a major step. Less vibrant, more musty and dusty and fusty. Fine, concentrated Madeira for old men, or old maids? 88-89P

March 20, 2017 - Madeira in Madeira; 3/15/2017-3/20/2017: Tasted at D'Oliveiras, Funchal. Bottled in 2015. Pure dark, almost burnt caramel on the nose; medium-bodied entry with caramelised sugar, burnt almond, highly concentrated; monolithic sweetness. Very long, structured, almost mineral finish. 92P+

December 20, 2016 - Monthly Tuesday group "The Dead Sparrow" #014: Madeira (@ RW and by RW): In the bouquet hazel nuts, sherry, toffee and caramel. Burnt sugar, molasses, firm acidity and a bit drying in the finish. Special.

February 4, 2016 - Madeira Pilgrimage; 2/1/2016-2/4/2016 (Madeira): Aromas of floral perfume, Cognac, dried pineapples and apricots. Creamy palate, well-rounded and integrated with tartness from the acid. Yellow apples and apricot jam with notes of spice and sea spray.
