January 30, 2020 - At Bite of Hong Kong
Plum and stony fruit more than cassis, wet tobacco, and lovely Margaux perfume on the nose. Midweighted, classically proportioned and harmonious understated wine drinking on the back end of peak. Lovely.
January 30, 2020 - savory with stones and minerals and some dark fruits. There is a streak of sweetness running through that’s pretty and perfumed. This was better than the 89 GPL. 16/20.
December 24, 2019 - Still quite dark in colour, well evolved around the rim. Lovely nose - soft notes of old leather, spices, cedar, tobacco, sweet fruit. On the palate still harmonious and well balanced - the tannins are fully resolved and the fruit is almost gone, but the acidity is well integrated. A little thin and not very long, but a lovely bottle overall. Drink up. 88-90
November 3, 2019 - This was quite the surprise. Youthful color. Fruit is tertiary but still there. Great aromatics with a fine mint note. Elegant and polished. Much better than exprcted.
June 10, 2018 - No point for this bottle; the acidity is hefty, showing the end of the life cycle; the taste is sharp. Maybe there are bottles around with more life inside.
May 21, 2018 - This bottle was in excellent condition, great fill level, good cork. At first quite mouldy and a little bretty on the nose. This blew off to some extent with some time in the glass, revealing cedar, tobacco, spices, some dark fruit notes. On the palate a little thin and drying, a bit disintegrated with sharp acidity and not much fruit. Good length. A number of years past its best, but certainly enjoyable. 86-88
December 21, 2016 - J'ai toujours aimé ce vin!
La dernière fois que j'ai bu ce millésime, c'était il y a 20 ans...et quelle belle surprise aujourd'hui.
Le niveau est un bon base neck, la couleur prune foncé, encore assez brillante.
Au nez, je retrouve des arômes d'un pot pourri de fleurs, de cuir, de feuilles mortes.
En bouche, le vin offre une belle structure, de la suavité mêlée d'acidité, une bonne présence tannique.
Même s'il n'est pas trop complexe, il offre beaucoup de plaisir, vraiment beaucoup !
September 8, 2014 - beautiful, feminine, elegant and delightful. Complex floral nose with leather and tobacco notes. Fully mature but not faded. A-
April 19, 2012 - Drinkable, but very tired. No real character.
October 7, 2011 - At Roberson's Old Wine Event (October 6, 2011). Wood smell, dark fruit and more wood on taste. Not extraordinary but very good considering the vintage/age.
