March 1, 2024 - Mittleres Rubinrot.

March 1, 2024 - Nose very lifted - moderate pot pourri , the most complete of the flight. No tannins

January 3, 2024 - At D’s for NYE. Crunchy red fruit, cranberries and earth, with tertiary development of some mushroom and herbs. It is open but reserved and poised. Definitely feels “Burgundian” though you do get some coolness here with touches of bell pepper and stemmy wood spice, that pulls it away from burgundy. I thought this a Loire cab franc made in a very elegant style. Really intriguing and interesting wine.

July 26, 2023 - No notes taken. This is a well-made Pinot Noir but this bottle didn’t show the typical complex aroma profile the best Gantenbein Pinots can achieve. The frame is fine, the wine has a good freshness and is fairly round and harmonious but overall this bottle was a bit uninspiring, definitely good quality but uninspiring.

October 11, 2022 - I had this wine a few years back and I was sceptical then. Today confirms tha this is clearly a weaker Gantenbein vintage with less aroma and signs of dilution. The cold 2014 vintage cannot fully hide here after all. We had the stellar 2016 next to it tonight and this one really paled compared to it.
