September 23, 2020 - Not quite as good as the bottle I had last year but it did not have the benefit of being decanted. I did slow ox it for an hour. The nose was dried flowers and dark red fruit. The plate was red plums, leather and tobacco. I don't think our food selection helped as since it was my wife's birthday Tuesday I told her for the rest of the week she could decide what to have for dinner and I wouldn't question it. So last night she wanted pizza. I have not had a slice of pizza in three years and honestly would not have opened this had I known but it was what it was. I have more in the cellar and like all the 2010's they have lots of life ahead of them.

July 14, 2020 - A bottle that has everything. But in my opinion it won’t come together. Freshness is already gone while the flavours are still behind a grippy pallet.
    Alcoholic aftertaste.

June 2, 2019 - A fellow tracker said that this wine "was open for business" so I took a bottle out decanted it and let it sit for an hour. I concur, it is young but definitely ready to go. Fruit and dried flowers on the nose. The palate was berries, red cherry, red plums, hints of tobacco and touch of sage on the finish which was relatively long. A really good bottle of wine and most important my wife really like it. I have 5 more which will wait on for a year or so to see how they develop.

August 8, 2018 - This is open for business, no need for a long decant. Subdued nose, ripe fruit, floral note of violets/black rose, hints of wood and dark fruits. Still youthful, compact fruit profile, medium weight with balancing acidity. Fruits are blue/dark red, Clean, blueberry, black cherry and red apple skins. Black soil and tar. Not exactly what I would think as a Reserva in the 2010 vintage. There is an elevated level of tannin which I dont think will outlive the fruit. At 15.5 alc it packs a punch and shows a touch hot. Held up very well over two days. Purchased upon release, stored accordingly, enjoyed 60-70 degrees with veal and sage. Drink over the next 7 years...Na zdrowie

December 6, 2017 - Drunk over multiple days from a bottle that I have opened with Coravin before. See former notice with the exception, that the alcohol has been much better integrated than before. That may be due to the cold weather outside, my personal condition or the Change of glass: Zalto Universal. Either way: Very silky, Velvet, complex and Long with a bright future ahead and maybe 92-93+ in the future.

August 18, 2017 - Glass: Riedel Vinum Syrah
    One glass poured with Coravin.
Clear, deep ruby color with purple and orange reflexes. Almost inky black. Clean, medium+ intense, developing nose. Seems very dense and compact, but showing a very nice perfume of mint, herbs, earthiness, amarena cherries.
Bold and very massive on the palate. Dry, with a high acidity that tries to balance the high alcohol (15,5% abv). Tannin is high and very fine grained, mellow and velvet. Still very compact body with notes of black cherries, mint, some oak. Quite nice if there were not the hotness caused by the high alcohol level. Medium+ finish, unfortunately also a bit hot. Certainly way too young, so I would guess it needs at least 5+ years to mature. What will happen with the high alcohol? We will see. At the moment ~ 90pts with potential to 92+. Good PQR for a Riserva.

September 27, 2016 - Montalcino Trip- Day 2 (Stella Di Campalto, Cappana, Collosorbo) (Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy): Nose: The nose is profound, deep, and layered that is extremely mineral driven as a base along with dark red cherries, red florals, raspberries, tar, licorice, roasted herbs, spice tones, earth, and some black truffles. There is a ton of complexity to the nose and this had really blossomed with it being open on the second day.

Taste: Medium/full bodied with medium+ acidity and high tannins. The tannins are punishing and showing extreme youth. Beneath the structure lies a feel that is deep and regal with crushed rocks, dark red cherries, red florals, licorice, roasted herbs, earth tones, black truffles, and leather notes.

Overall: This is a stunning young Brunello Riserva. It is a marathon runner, but all of the traits are there for this to be a superlative expression of Sangiovese.
