November 18, 2022 - One hour decant and a nearly 24 hour slow ox. Very deep dark ruby magenta color. Cinnamon fig scone, damp stone, raspberry purée, and black plum on the nose. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.

I’ve never before rated the same bottle two times, but I didn’t give this enough air the first time. After putting the cork back in a half drunk bottle (in the cool cellar), it was transformed the next day. It wasn’t Vacuvin’d, which is why I’m calling it a slow ox.

November 17, 2022 - One hour decant. Deep dark hazy magenta color. Nutty burnt caramel, candied cherry, spiced apple, tangerine, and subtle jerky on the nose. Smooth, tongue drying palate. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.

This is nice and would likely be better with a longer decant. Mark1NPT was kind enough to open this as a dinner warm up.

November 17, 2022 - Pnp'd as the 2nd wine of the Jaimepalooza...enjoyed with bacon wrapped dates stuffed with chorizo, walnuts, black truffle gouda and breadsticks. Initially, at the pnp, quite muted on the nose and the palate. 1-2 hours in, and it really starts to sing a bit. Classic blackberry cab nose mixed with a slight herbal component and some waxy Crayola crayon element, too. As it gets more air, loads of cassis shows up. The acidity gets a little more high toned and you get the feeling there is still a high alc component bringing the heat as well. Such a big difference from the pnp. In that 94-95 range for most attributes, but to me toward an hour in it fell off just a bit. Cork back in bottle and back into the cellar to try again tomorrow.

Addendum: cork in the half full bottle overnight chillin' in the cellar. Cork out almost 24 hours from when it's decant started the day before. Immediately, there is pronounced blueberry there! It is awesome. Overall, the wine is a little softer, too. Wow! Have to increase my score from 93 to a 95 at least, now. Man, how this wine improved over 20-24 hours......I suppose most are missing the best window into this one? Or was it just me?

July 28, 2022 - Not rating this bottle, though ultimately it turned out pretty good. Noting specifically that this bottle was very different than my previous 3 over the last couple of years. Pnp'd to a sour nose and sour palate. Don't know for sure if this is a true outlier or if the wine is starting to take a turn? Over the course of about 3 hours the bottle came around a bit better and it was a rich dark berry beauty though the acidity came on strong too and was slightly out of balance. So far, this particular bottle seems to be an outlier in how it performs, but it's still quite good. I probably would have given it a 91-92 if scoring.

May 13, 2022 - Wonderfully aromatic. Lovely and fresh. Dark fruit flavors with fresh lively acidity. Finish is long and memorable. Tannins are soft, smooth, integrated. Dark fruit flavors which linger on and on. Wonderfully crafted. Memorable. Lovely.
