  April 6, 2023 - BYOK with Olivier Krug at Next (Chicago, IL): Disgorged 2015. Stunning. Massively scaled, but so fresh and bright compared even to a bottle of the original 1990 release straight from Olivier's private cellar (disgorged 2006). Extremely pale in colour compared to the original release. This seems almost unnaturally fresh and vibrant, not just against the 1990, but in comparison to all the other wines tonight. The fruit shows no signs of turning secondary; it's almost still fully primary. I love the linear, driven acidity here as well. Drinking extraordinarily well right now, to the point that I'm really tempted to open a bottle from my own stash.

  Sharp sourness, heavy truffle attack.

  January 6, 2022 - Wine Dinner w/new friends in JAX (Rue St Mark): We have been lucky enough in the last year to have had the Krug 90 a few times and it's always been a real treat so getting to try the collection was special. This is a baby. Disgorged in 2014. It's very young and even giving it time through the meal it stayed a bit on the shy side. Fresh and bright and almost kindof reminds me of the popular grower style in the extra brut very crisp feeling. Needs more years to develop the extra complexity, but going to be a lovely wine.

  November 19, 2021 - A private lunch (Restaurant Zoldering, Amsterdam, NL): Bottle No. 1698, ID215026. A blend of 40% Pinot Noir, 37% Chardonnay and 23% Pinot Meunier, disgorged spring 2015. Impeccable intensity, definition, complexity and harmony. Broad but elegant, juicy richness, marvellous energy from the long ageing on the lees, so much more finesse than the regular bottling, lively but silky mousse, synthesizing a hundred details into a cohesive whole, stony minerality, flowers and citrus, apple and pear, warm spices, candied fruit and white nuts, develops quickly in the glass, savoury finish with wonderfully precise resonance, great length. Fully mature.

  Krug perfume. Fresh, powerful, the yeasty notes disappeared, very balanced. I guessed 1990 but not collection. Still primary notes. at least 5-8 more years. 96
