December 1, 2023 - Decanted and drank over 3 hours on day one… Consistent with previous bottles… wonderful nose (violets, lilac, lavender) - think Chowders gum 😀; nice tart cherry on the palate; tiniest bit of soft tannins on the finish. These notes are so similar to my original tasting notes from a few years ago… it’s like this wine is in suspended animation…. Enjoy it … it’s not sophisticated or elegant but still a wonderful evening sipper.
August 15, 2023 - Deep ruby. On the nose medium intensity aromas of black currant, cassis, dry earth, soft vanilla and baking spices. On the palate the wine is dry with medium plus acidity and fine grained ripe tannins. The body is medium plus, alcohol is high but well integrated. The flavor intensity is pronounced with black currant, cassis, dry earth, soft vanilla and baking spices, dried blueberries, prune. The finish lingers with black fruit and is layered. An excellent wine, and I have a second bottle that I will let sit some years more.
February 7, 2023 - Big rich Cab. Mellowed out with smooth tannins and rich fruit flavors
November 8, 2022 - 11/6/2022 Popped / poured and left to sit in the glass for half an hour before dinner. Dark, brooding Cali cab; lots of cassis, plum, blackberry on the nose. On the palate, lighter red fruit, seems rather tongue-tied, opaque, monstrously tannic, primarily fine-grained teabag tannins with some more gravelly stuff behind. I have one bottle left, think I will leave it in cellar until 2025-2027, hoping the tannins mellow before the fruit runs out. Update: Tannins definitely mellower after a day. Moral of the story, decant this one a few hours ahead of need!

May 15, 2022 - Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined and refrigerated), note from day 2. Appearance: Clear, deep ruby with no bricking - still youthful in appearance. Nose: Clean, medium intensity with developing aromas of blackberry, plum, bell pepper, black olive, and saddle leather. Palate: Dry, medium+ acid and tannin, medium+ body, 14.8% abv, medium intensity with flavors of plum, bell pepper and black olive and a medium+ finish. Overall a very good- excellent wine excelling in balance and length, just entering it's prime drinking window. Drink now or over next 2-3 years.
December 21, 2021 - nice cab. Elegant, a little less fruit forward.
November 25, 2021 - NR - I have loved and drank Scions over the past 10+ vintages but this bottle never came together and became a pleasure to drink. Stayed edgy and tight over 2 days. Maybe just a bad bottle.
November 15, 2021 - Very nice. Dark red-purple with magenta rim, and stains the glass red. Cocoa spice nose. Attractive. Glassy smooth wine on entry, unfolds in layers over the palate to reveal, in turn, chocolate, cherries, smoky dark cherries, chewy, fine-grained tannins, and cocoa. Fabulous finish goes on and on. 5-12-18-9: 94/100.
