April 4, 2020 - Leoville Barton always deliver great wine.

April 3, 2020 - Not sure what to say about this bottle. It was my first foray with the 2000 vintage. Is it past prime? Not yet entered its drinking window? Open opening and even after several hours in the decanter it was light bodies and thin on flavor. Saved a good portion for the second day. Some tannins started showing up to the party but not much else. Didn’t seem old or spoiled, just didn’t provide much.

March 2, 2020 - Double decanted for 2 hours then back to rinsed bottle to restaurant. Dark purple. Classic Bordeaux nose with tertiary notes. Taste, great complexity. Bouquet and taste were both haunting.
Stored since release, ordered thru Bordeaux future. Well worth the effort and patience.
Had it with 1990 Lagrange from a very generous friend. They were similar in taste and bouquet but the the LB was a notch above.

February 4, 2020 - Just entering its prime drinking window, the texture is very fine and silky and the tannins are supple but secondary flavors are still a few years off. Delicious dark fruit flavors with notes of graphite minerals and cassis lead to a very elegant finish with building complexity. Savory and very fine in a medium-bodied package. Lovely tonight but I think this will become way more complex over the next decade. 94+ With Tom Black in Nashville.

January 31, 2020 - Deep garnet but still remarkably ruby. Pronounced nose dominated by rich, ripe blackcurrant, plum, cedar, cigar box, tobacco, earth. Still developing, plenty of primary fruit.
Dry, medium acidity, medium ripe tannins, full body, medium alcohol, medium +, long finish.
It’s very good, but I was a little disappointed. Lots of primary flavour, but it lacked structure, and surprisingly undeveloped. I gave this two hours in a wide decanter and I wonder if that was too much. The palate didn’t live up to the initial promise on the nose.
