March 3, 2024 - First time with this bottling; I really like the Il Marroneto regular Brunello; this was also good, but for my particular palate not better and maybe actually not as good as the regular bottling. It was bigger and richer with ripe red berry fruits; almost in a liqueur like style; mint, anise, forest floor, and a whiff of worn leather. The palate is big, pretty tannic, and has a bit of alcohol noted on the back end. It is certainly tasty with food, but I would prefer more acidity and less alcohol. Still has plenty of time ahead of it based on this bottle.

    December 1, 2023 - used Corivan
Color was still ruby red. nose has spice box, smoke and earthiness. Dark cherry and herbs. Incredibly tannic, addition of cooked fruit and leather.

October 1, 2023 - Exceeded expectations, and was the unanimous winner in a blind tasting vs five 2010s - Costanti, Fuligni (came in 2nd), Argiano (3rd), Canalicchio (4th, but I prefered it to the Argiano), Pertimali (seems in a "dumb" phase). Also beat the 97 Le Chiuse (very good). So an off-vintage of this beats great producers of the legendary 2010. Astounding and must get more, from every vintage.

September 4, 2023 - First experience, and an off-vintage. Nonetheless understand reasons Brunello lovers have such positive reactions. So alive, acids, tannins, fruit. Probably gets even better for a few more years. Have 3 left so will search out better vintages and test it.

June 25, 2022 - What a wine. A bit brown on the edges - left me a tiny bit worried. But no need. The nose absolutely wonderful, intriguing, balanced and complex. And on the palate equally impressive. Still plenty of fruit to go a while. A powerful acidic attack to keeps things fresh and alive. Gentle tannins. Just a stunner. Left a 2009 Cavalotto Bricco Broshis - a super nice barolo - dwarfed on the night. And not even in a very good vintage. Impressive.

February 18, 2020 - Jun 2018: Grilled steak etc. Before dinner, with dinner. Fantastic. Deep, dark, austere by itself but good with the food. Def needs more time, but super intriguing. 95.

Jun 2018: Glass of wine with cheese, prosciutto, then pizza and cheese. Obviously too young and powerful for this food but I wanted to try it. Quite dark and intense, but not weighty. Elegant, complex. Austere at the end, a bit astringent. Looking forward to trying with much more time to breathe and with more significant food. 95

February 9, 2020 - After 2 h it was still closed and very restrained. But...after another 1 - 2 h it was magic in a bottle. The ballance between acidity and tannins are so super elegant. I'm going to keep my last bottle for anoter 5 years...if I can!

December 31, 2019 - Ruby with slight browning to edge. Legs++. Rich bouquet not particularly fruity, savoury and earthy, damp leaves. Palate fabulous. Dry wine with some cherry sweetness on the finish. Acidity and tannins were classy. Alcohol was high at 15% but you wouldn’t know it. This wine was beautiful and a real joy to drink to see out the year.

June 11, 2018 - Janselijn Wines & Verkerk Wines Burgundy v. Tuscany Tasting (Restaurant The Lobby Fizeaustraat, Hotel V, Amsterdam, NL): Trade tasting, brief note. Fresher than the 2009, more elegant and not as concentrated, beautifully managed tannins, much more youthful than the 2009 (relatively speaking), carries its massive 15% ABV with grace.
