November 17, 2019 - Lovely shiraz. Sweet fruits in blue and purple, oak supporting and a steely clean texture that drives a line through the wine and gives it a freshness that keeps you coming back. Some milk chocolate in the mix too. Opened and aired for 24 hours.

April 11, 2019 - Black fruit, spice, rippling tannins and toasty oak - what’s not to love here? Beautifully balanced, wonderfully textured, deeply fruited, fine and long, will live for many years yet.

May 7, 2018 - Medium to full bodied and dark red to black. Spicy nose with red fruits and liquorice. On the palate, juicy plums, some red fruits, cloves, liquorice, chocolate, pepper and nougat. Beautiful fine tannins and a long a juicy finish. Drinking well now and likely for many years to come.

December 13, 2016 - My dear wife does it again! The kids homemade pasta sauce is blessed with this rare McLaren Vale single vineyard Shiraz! It was hidden in the fridge. Even worst. But luckily only for 30 minutes!

The Marius Vineyard is a 4.5h dry-grown, minimal intervention site in the gravelly, elevated hills of the Vale. First impressions: France? Nope. But it screams France. With sour black fruits, earth, orange peel, exotic spice & alcohol fumes on the highly fragrant, slightly heady nose. The medium bodied palate is smooth with concentrated and finely balanced blackberry, raspberry, chocolate orange, rosemary, sage and spice flavours. There's a lovely savoury, spicy finish with a lick of cassis that lingers nicely. Is there another grape hiding in there? Not sure.

But it's a lovely wine to drink now and for the future (up to 2020). It's why it gets a Wozza 93/100 (3.8/5.0) from me (with a 94 to come).
