December 2, 2023 - Drank this over two nights about a week apart (375ml each time and stored in a half bottle in between). The first 375 was short decant and while the nose was awesome the palate was a closed and disappointing. On the second 375 I slow ox’ed for several hours (namely opened the 375 and poured a smal glass to give more air). And wow it was really great, acid was popping but not overwhelming, forest floor / menthol, and bright red fruits with a long finish. I will try to hold next bottle 5+ yrs

November 4, 2023 - 25th Annual Lyon 10 Year Retrospective (Lyon Down Inn): 4/18 purchase $69. On its side, temp controlled x 5+ years. The cork broke like it was dried! The wine? No nose, no taste, no joy, typical of light TCA. Replaced in this tasting by the Behrens.

May 7, 2023 - Notes here say this needs time. Not my experience, i think i caught this at a beautiful place and close to peak. Yes it has fruit but also minerality, cedar, leather, beautiful acidity with just a mellow mouthfeel, rounded and smooth with no tannins. For those liking tertiary notes, they might prefer this more aged but to me it was just beautiful! Absolute gem at 10 years. Great with grilled steak. I always love My MT Eden with that sta cruz fruit profile!! Loved it so much that i pulled the trigger on 6 2016!!

February 25, 2023 - 2 hour decant. Cedar on the nose initially, developed a hint of menthol on the second day. Very savoury. Very good dark fruit core. Tannins nicely integrated. Medium length. For me lacks some conplexity at this stage - very enjoyable but interesting to see if this steps up in the coming years or stays in this spot?

November 21, 2022 - Bart's. Big fruit, structured, with this appellation's trademark granite minerality which I just adore. Everything good but probably ten years away from peak.

November 19, 2022 - Served blind. Dorin's and Julie's bottle. Dusty fruit, good cut and very mineraled. Still, not a star of the night. Upon reveal, I was surprised as I've always liked Mt Eden's Cabs. I suspect we caught this at an awkward, sullen, adolescent phase. Had I more of these, I'd sit on them a while.

November 5, 2022 - Very good, but something in the tannic taste kept me from thinking this could have been better, even after two hours in the duck. A lovely delicate, feminine profile, but there was an overriding taste of oak/menthol that tended to dominate the mid palate. This was the first bottle I tasted, so I am not sure if this is not some variation or something else. Not corked, as there was plenty of fruit there. Try again

June 1, 2022 - As expected, bright brambly fruits, a hint of brett, if a cab could be Burgundian, this is it.

May 27, 2022 - Really in a good place. Deep, long and very well balanced. Should be good for years to come.
