November 23, 2023 - Earthy, elegant, forest floor, blackberry. Delicious. Long finish. Enjoy.
August 15, 2021 - This bottle needed a LOT of air... after an hour in decanter it was very flavorful but had a bit of tannic tartness in the finish that limited our rating to 92. Halfway through dinner (90 minutes of air) it opened up with a rush, the tannin disappeared and our score jumped to 94. It's a beautiful Syrah, great with pizza.
February 13, 2021 - A faithful Syrah, perhaps a touch tart and not as full-bodied as some others. Enjoyable but we have had better.
4/17 Another bottle, maybe a point better at 93.
October 7, 2020 - Blackberry liqueur and currant on the nose. Dark, brambly fruit on the palate with a hint of oak on the finish.
June 17, 2020 - Complex scents of espresso and incense smoke, black licorice, some new oak, and very impressive earthy, woodsy aromas. I really enjoyed the very dark / intense black fruits, and the stout profile with moderate tannin & mild acids. A tad sweet which I don’t normally like, but it was so well balanced with the rest of the flavors that I enjoyed its mocha pudding characteristic. You should pair this wine with Spanish Jamon Serrano and any hard cheese will do. This was like stepping into a time machine to the 1990’s when well-made Syrah was dense, sexy, shocking, and built to knock you into the dirt. Decant for at least 2 hours. Drink now or within the next 5 years.
June 6, 2020 - Beautiful ruby color that traps light. Nose of smoke and lavender. Rich, viscous mouthfeel, velvety. Blackberry, tar, hint of bay leaf. Remarkable. Enjoy.
December 28, 2019 - This wine aged wonderfully. Easy tannins, moderate spice, lots of fruit but not jammy.
December 14, 2016 - Bold red fruit flavors for sure. Bit rough now with strong barrel tannins. I can find some black pepper and other spices. Needs some time to round and integrate. Dark purple in color with big legs almost 15% alcohol. Love this vineyard for Pinot. Still TBD on the Syrah.
