January 23, 2019 - Drank with the legendary "Uncle" Bill Pattana.

Thin, bland, and a poor excuse of a whisky at 18 years old. No wonder it's so inexpensive.

January 19, 2018 - Powerful one, not really my type, not very interesting aroma

August 26, 2016 - Soft, dry and flowery with clear sherry influence. Creamy caramel and honey in the nose and some clear sherry sweetness. On the palate again the creaminess comes through with some fresh fruitiness (apples, pears) as well as dried fruits (apricot, apple again, raisins) and some drier toasty cereal notes, cookies and some oak. The finish is medium-long with sherry, malt and some nuts. Rich, sweet and gentle.

July 16, 2016 - This lovely whisky offered cereal, malt, leather, caramel and a hint of smoke on the nose, and apple, cereal, spices, pepper, honey, liquorice, tobacco and black tea on the palate, with warming, well-integrated alcohol and very good length. This superb, medium- to full-bodied whisky was well-balanced and had an oily texture. It benefited from adding a generous dash of water. Lovely stuff; after I opened the bottle I basically did not touch any of my other open bottles, which included a Bowmore 15 and a Basil Hayden's 8 Years Old Kentucky Bourbon, before I finished this bottle of Glenlivet 18. Very good value. Body 6/10, Smoke 2/10, Sweetness 2.5/10.

March 7, 2015 - Likely one of the Top 10 single malts I've ever sipped, including tastings in Scotland a few years ago. Accompanied cigars on the patio after a tri-tip dinner, and definitely a show-stopper. Royal golden color with an initially reluctant nose that opened up dramatically with a mere splash of ice-cold bottled water. Creme brûlée, butterscotch, dried flowers and slightly sweetened orange peel set against a background of well-integrated cask flavors and scents. A stunner.
