October 28, 2023 - From Demptos Barrel which Jim Law and Richard Boisseau believe is the right marriage for this wine. This vintage is a blend of 44% Petit Verdot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc. The color is stunningly beautiful with a cherry lacquer (no, not liqueur) sheen to it. The nose is deep with both black and sour cherry, plum, leather, licorice, rosemary, brined black olives, smoke, and cigar wrapper finish. This remains a stunningly good wine with a smooth mouthfeel and longish finish. With various cheeses including Roaring 40’s blue, ham and brined black olives. May have been too powerful for the food; really needs bolder food. 10.27.23. Recommended with a nod toward Highly Recommended.

April 17, 2022 - The blend varies from year to year. This vintage is a blend of 44% Petit Verdot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc. A smokey wine with smooth, forward, dark fruits of plum and cassis followed by tobo, sandalwood, leather and a somewhat herbal finish.....(but not a pine resin, thankfully). A lovely wine that’s in a very good spot just now. With leftover grilled (beef) ribeyes on Easter evening watching the Bristol dirt race. 04.17.22. Recommended.

October 21, 2021 - Lovely wine, with dark fruit, fresh acidity and tannins now well integrated easy to drink but with a certain power that complemented the beef and tomatillo stew we drank it with. 44 percent petit verdot small vineyard, carefully tended. Years left on this vintage.

March 2, 2019 - A blend of 44% Petit Verdot, 28% Cab. Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc. A complex, deeply fruited nose including plum, tart cherry, and cassis followed by cinnamon, pine resin, tobo, spice and balsamic. This is going to be fun. What a big wine; loaded with tannins and layers of flavor and big mouthfeel with absolutely no pine resin on the palate. Sharp acidity balances the bigness of the fruit and tannins. Nothing is over the top. The finish is silky chocolate. With grilled duck breast in 5 spice rub and blackberry sauce. Highly Recommended.
