February 22, 2024 - One of the best Chiantis you can taste. Pours to a dark purple color, much darker for a Sangiovese, but retains the brick red/orange meniscus of this varietal. Intense nose of cherries, spices, licorice, orange-dark chocolate, and tobacco. Terrific on the palate with long finish that one does not associate with most Chianti's that accompany a pizza. The finish also has medium+ acidity and is laced with the unmistakable tannins that leave the throat a little dry. The tannins are brooding under cloak of the polish of the wine. Pair with osso buco or a juicy ribeye. WS gave this 96 pts and put it at #3 wine of their 2018 list. Both seem generous, but does shines a bright light on this terrific wine from a very respectable winery. Highly recommended.
