July 28, 2019 - Fourteen years from the vintage, and this is not yet into early maturity. It was always a very ripe Spatlese (hence the *), and still shows lots of ripe peach and tropical fruit. It is finally starting to slim down enough to show a little structure, but even more cellar time is needed to get to any real definition. With spicy Indian food it's a fun drink now. Real aged complexity is still 5-7 years (or more) off.

December 25, 2018 - Medium golden color. Beautifully aged notes of apple, white blossoms, mint, citrus, also some white peach, petroleum and also a touch of spices, but mostly flowery notes and also some honey. It‘s medium bodied, with good mid-palate persistence and medium+ acidity as well as medium sweetness. Good length. There is also an element of slight creaminess. A very nicely aged *Spätlese that is selling for a song.

December 26, 2014 - Did not enjoy this particular bottle. Served just above cellar temp and perhaps that was too warm - but this tasted sweet, thick and goopy. No acidic frame or cut to provide freshness or balance. Disappointing showing.

September 26, 2014 - Medium-pale golden color. Jumps out of the glass with honey, minerality (petroleum is starting to develop slightly), spices, ripe pineapple and apple, citrus, wet stone. There is an almost creamy texture to it. It's medium+ bodied and pretty dense, with medium+ acidity and medium+ sweetness. Good length. A very beautiful Spätlese that is just starting to develop secondary nuances and will still have quite a few years ahead.

January 7, 2009 - A bit fat and undefined at the moment. Schildknecht mentions in his review that Kerpen thinks it will take 7 to 10 years for the sweetness to back off. I'll try to give him the benefit of the doubt and let these sleep for a while.
