    March 25, 2023 - Gala Dinner 2023: (A) Small glass
Red berries, mint and hints of soy and VA on the nose. Probably not the best example but the palate is still impressive with excellent purity, great intensity and good length

March 7, 2020 - La Paulee 2020 - Gala Dinner (Pier 60): Did not have enough time open to appreciate its true beauty... still very classy for what is in the glass. 95+

January 11, 2019 - Echezeaux Extravaganza: Class in a glass. This bottle was very youthful and struck me as just entering its drinking window. What was most interesting to me was that hint of reduction and "wild animalism" that was lurking in the finish and one could clearly trace the evolution. Great wine with still years of pleasure left. Bottles of such provenance are clearly still on the upward slope.

February 2, 2015 - This review is for the Henri Jayer Echezeaux made from grapes grown on his brother Georges' property. Popped and poured, not decanted. A darkish wine with a sedate, closed nose. With time it opened up to a very good, classic Burgundy nose but to a very great, structured body with deep and austere (for Burgundy) flavors. Floral and mint highlights, it had a high level of bright acidity - in fact some "explosive" acidity - and lots of tannin. A bright, young and structured wine when compared to its opulent but light-bodied companion, a '90 Chambertin Clos de Beze from Armand Rousseau. After one hour the wine opened up and was great, but after two hours the nose had finally opened up fully to reveal a huge, powerful, and impressive wine, with sweet and smokey fragrances and hints of caramel, lots of "extract". Many more years left in this one.

December 8, 2012 - Light on its feet, with spice and some leather as well as dark red fruit. Good length and complexity.

May 5, 2011 - A massive garden of spices on the nose wow, incredible and damn juicy wine! Not an elegant wine, however, and right now it is VERY young.
