August 22, 2023 - One of a number of a mixed case of various 2005 P Green Pinots that I received as a BD present probably circa 2007 ish and were “lost in the cellar.” I’d say the devil made me open it, but more likely CEP :) . Some of the 2005 single vyd P Green Pinots that I opened recently have been very good or better and some not so much. Interestingly, this bottle, at least, of the WV “entry level” 2005 PN blend is still alive, to borrow from the Frankenstein movie. The color has a tawny edge but isn’t bricked throughout. The fruit is diminished, not fresh but stewed, but there’s other stuff, including a touch smoke and Hoisin and some herbal qualities that maintain my interest, certainly relative to the other 2005 I found and opened (2005 Duboeuf Mont Chavy Morgon), which I gave a good chance to blossom but ultimately discarded. I wouldn’t be surprised if this will be the last entry in CT for this wine. :)
