November 24, 2021 - Elegant, muted nose. This wine was very pretty and earth driven and should be drunk within the next five years

March 13, 2017 - Ruby with a whack of raspberry and blueberry on the nose -
underscoring a structured, balanced intense palate that is fresh and expansive on the back end. Long cranberry leather finish with
just an early hint of secondary flavours. No doubt a great Echezeaux of a very under rated vintage.

March 6, 2017 - Slightest initial mustiness on the nose that largely blew off after 15 minutes. Red cherry notes but a somewhat hollowed palate albeit with plenty of acid.

December 22, 2016 - From the cellar of a friend who noted he paid $50 on release for the bottle! Very dark, brooding fruit with stem notes; a deep and pure nose that speaks to the '91 vintage. Gorgeous texture in the mouth with maturing purity of the fruit--I love '91 burgs. Good finish, and this opens up with more and more air, gaining in depth and structure. What it lacks is a defining sense of terroir, but perhaps that is Echezeaux. A very good wine I'd be more than happy to encounter again--can drink now or hold for several years.

November 4, 2016 - This bottle, of particularly reliable provenance, is reading very young. A robust nose of spice, stalky / stemmy greenery, underbrush, and big red and blue berry fruit. Traces of oak remain. On the palate this is huge and explosive. Very well structured with the fruit to match. Fascinating comparison to the '91 Rouget Echezeaux, which was far more nuanced and complex. Still fantastic, to be sure.

October 20, 2015 - Drunk at Otto e Mezzo in Hong Kong. Of the 4 DRC Echezeaux (including one Grand Echezeaux) we had tonight this brought up the rear of what to be clear was a very high standard. As one of my colleagues remarked it is not as well constructed as the others. Perhaps it was the competition, perhaps it was the bottle but it certainly lacked the razamatazz you would wish for from DRC.

January 23, 2015 - From methuselah. This was beautifully giving - red fruits, some spice, great freshness. Not overly complex but wonderful.

December 29, 2014 - I agree with other tasting notes on this wine. It is just not what you are expecting from a DRC in terms of depths of flavors, mostly red pinot fruit but a lot of acidity. I'm not sure if this will ever come into balance for my liking.
