March 19, 2024 - Lucky to have this again. Great wine and better than the 2005 Chateau Leoville Poyferre tasted alongside it.
January 14, 2024 - Very tight. Double decanted. Never opened up.
December 30, 2023 - 5th tasting notes.
Pronounced nose with black fruits, black currant, leather, spices, toast. Medium+ acidity and tannin is still medium+
December 27, 2023 - Probably a little over due but was for my daughter’s 21st. Been holding a while. Cork was beautiful. Still quite good.
October 26, 2023 - Wonderful! No detailed notes.
October 13, 2023 - Youthful looking wine, black ruby colour! Tight on the nose, faint aroma of sweet vanilla, leathery dark fruits, a little hint of oak! The palate is tight, rich, smooth and yet, full of powdery tannins! Not fully ready yet in my book!
October 10, 2023 - Brought the score down by a point. The bottle started more closed and tight than earlier experience, tannins were there but the fruit took more time to emerge. They did come through with some patience and delivered a nicely structured profile with notes of anise, blackberry, vanilla and leather.
August 12, 2023 - Wonderful nose of blue fruit with a touch of mint freshness. Classic Pauillac pallet with nice dark plums and smooth tannins. So weightless and intense. Old Bordeaux is so enjoyable. I think this still has more to reveal.
July 21, 2023 - Tasted annually for the last 5 years, this is now firmly in its drinking window. However, it does need at least 3 hours in the decanter to come alive. Once it does, it is a delightful wine, and a bit of a surprise in a very average vintage. The nose is still a little reticent, but is aromatic with blackcurrant and tobacco, wirh floral wafts. The palate is well integrated and deep and well balanced, albeit with some residual tannin still to resolve. Similarly the finish is excellent, but further development will smooth out some of the rougher edges. 93+
May 17, 2023 - A bit mushy. Lush fruit, soft. Benefits from being slightly chilled. Drink soon.
