Community Tasting Notes 5

November 13, 2022 - Much better than last tasting 5 years ago. Rich fruit, quite viscous and well balanced with acidity. Excellent overall and still drinking well.

May 10, 2022 - Wow! Magnifique même après 9 ans!

November 9, 2019 - Made from grapes sourced from vineyards averaging 45 years of age. Fermented in stainless steel. Aged for 10 months on the lees in concrete tanks. 14,5% alcohol.

Medium-deep, luminous yellow-green color. Juicy yet somewhat restrained nose with somewhat linear aromas of ripe golden apples, some yellow stone fruits, a little bit of concentrated honeyed richness and a hint of savory exotic spices. The wine is very full-bodied, concentrated and rather weighty on the palate with very ripe fruit flavors of cantaloupe, some stony minerality, a little bit of golden apples, light chopped aromatic herbs, light notes of almonds, a hint of tangy salinity and a touch of beeswax. The overall feel is quite heavy and somewhat viscous, but the high acidity makes the wine appear impressively structured and balanced. The high alcohol lends some obvious warmth to the palate. The finish is ripe, rich and somewhat warm with intense flavors of stony minerality, ripe red apples, some tangy salinity, a little bit of sweet golden apples, light honeyed tones, a hint of steely minerality and a touch of exotic spices.

A very dense, concentrated and weighty Verdicchio with tons of rich fruit and an impressive structure to hold it all together. Not a particularly delicate or sophisticated white wine, this is all about opulence and monolithic presence. However, I can't deny it is pretty impressive, tasty and balanced for what it is. The only real beef I have with the wine is its high alcohol - the wine just appears too warm and at times even slightly too boozy for my taste. With a bit lower alcohol this could be a tremendous super-wine. Nevertheless, the wine is still very youthful at 6 years of age and holds tons of potential for future development; it will be peaking probably after another 10-14 years of aging. Good value at 22,90€.

May 6, 2017 - Nice lighter white. Crisp and clean. I didn't notice a big difference in this old vines cuvee from the regular bottling.

April 12, 2016 - Vinitaly 2016; 4/10/2016-4/13/2016 (Verona, Italy): Verdicchio del Castelli di Jesi, 12 months aged in steel, 6 months in bottle before release. I was told the grapes come from 40-50 yo vines. The palate shows great intensity compared to the nose, ripe green fruit with apple and pear more upfront, round, a nutty element as well, beautiful, med finish
