October 29, 2020 - Showing the vintage just fine. What a bruiser still! I can only imagine how powerful this was 10 years ago even. Lots going on, including the tannin. Showed more like WA than BDX to me. Perfect pair with a campfire grilled prime ribeye. Big black fruit, tannin and rich.

September 13, 2020 - Ripe dark fruit bouquet with a whiff of pencil lead initially. Good intensity on the palate with nice ripe fruit notes on the entry and mid-palate. Finishes with a little heat. I’m afraid the pleasant fruit flavor will fade rapidly with additional aging and the alcohol will begin to dominate. Modest length, smooth and round. ( Decanted for an hour).
    Drink up soon.
The 2003 vintage was considered the “second wine” of Léoville Las Cases, But 3-4 years later this property started sourcing the fruit for this wine entirely from vineyards that were outside the original Château de Léoville estate before It was broken up into the current Las Cases, Barton, and Poyferre Châteaux we are familiar with today.

June 25, 2020 - 13% ABV. The aromatics here consist of cassis, red cherry, leather and a whiff of flowers. There is a medium body, ample dark fruits and earth that are accompanied by a dry edge on the palate. The acidity is a bit on the low side and the finish is marked with still-substantial tannins. Overall, this is a solid everyday Bordeaux that can be drunk now, but will last for at least another 5 years with proper storage. 88.
