    February 2, 2020 - Vibrant palate. Brilliant!
A standout amongst the rest of the syrah/Shiraz in a dedicated event to the charming varietal. It has the elements, well crafted, & so fierce & sexy!

    August 24, 2019 - Opened ≈35 min prior

“88% Syrah, 6% Grenache, 4% Mourvedre, & 2% Viognier (co-fermented with Syrah); ≈22% of the lots were fermented as whole clusters, the remaining lots being de-stemmed. 20% of the lots also underwent extended maceration. Aged 13 mos in oak barrels (88% in neutral FR & AM, 12% in new, tight-grained FR); 14.5% ABV, 0.54 g/100mL T.A., & 3.83 pH; 9,658 cases produced & bottled Dec 9-15, 2015.”

N: Earthiness with notes of blk olives, poss TCA?

P: SHARP acidity from mid-P on, definitely leading me down the corked path -- even though the mustily, earthy aromas did NOT get worse, as I might have predicted.

Day 2: 2 of us only SMELLED it, getting "wet dog" aromas right off the bat, though, as on Day 1, those seemed to dissipate.

Day 8: [Background: At the shop where I do the majority of my tasting, I wanted to seek the opinion of > experienced tasters.]
N: NO sensation of mustiness/wet dog WHATSOEVER -- for either myself or any of the other 3 who tried it!

P: While SOME oxidation showing [ever since opening the bottle had been @ room temp WITHOUT "Private Preserve"], everyone agreed it was < what might have been expected. The *ripe* frt was still goin' strongly, & more importantly, not the SLIGHTEST *hint* of the SHARP acidity of Day 1!

∑: I won't "score" this as I've truly *NO* idea WHAT to make of it! Moreover, though I don't know specifically WHERE it is, my records indicate I've yet another bottle of it -- & I've not the SLIGHTEST idea **how** to handle it should I locate it! [E.g., when to open it, should I decant it, etc.?] IF anyone has any suggestions, by all means PLEASE sent 'em my way, 'k? ;)

    P.S. Previously tasted on 9/17/16 & 11/18/18

March 10, 2019 - Muted nose, opens up on the palate to show ripe blackberry, with faint background notes of oak and smoke. Simple.
