    August 11, 2023 - Better now after two years since last bottle. More integrated and balanced than it appears before.

    July 24, 2019 - I thought this was a nice showing for an off vintage.

    The color shows some bricking already, nose began with a little cellar funk, then on to iron ore and sanguine notes once it blew off. Moderate intensity of red fruit on a fairly lean body (for Brunello) with integrated tannins. The acidity was supportive, oak not overdone, fruit still hanging around but some other nice elements for interest, and a nice finish with red cherry lingering a while after...

    I’d say it’s ready to go and probably near it’s best, but I wouldn’t pay over $60 for it

    October 21, 2018 - Ruby, medium intensity. Bouquet was amazing. Changed so much in the glass. Initially strawberry but changed to blueberry and tar with a hint of liquorice. Then leather and violets, certainly perfumed. On the palate dry, smooth tannins and acids. The fruit was not the main aspect of the wine. Long finish. This wine changed so much in the glass that we just had to finish the bottle, and then of course, it just didn’t matter. This wine was superb, the main problem is that we don’t have any more!

    100% Sangiovese. Complex, but immediately captivating, fresh and sweet;
    Muscular and toned, surprising combination of power and softness, with sweet and gentle tannins.
    Pair with red meat, aged cheeses. A wine for meditative contemplation and long term aging.

    June 5, 2017 - less oak than earlier vintage, but still noticeably bigger and bolder than the more traditional BdMs of the same vintage. There's depth, but less finesse than I hoped for. After tasting a Poggio alle Mura from 1970 last night, I hope time will shine on this one in the same way.
