February 1, 2020 - 88-90: well wasn't this wine a surprise. First night was kind of a typical New World Rhone blend, the mourvedre really standing out with a Steely backbone. On night 2 however, the wine opened up and went totally grapey on me. It was full flavored, velvetty, and had a long fruit-driven finish. Very good.
July 21, 2018 - Needs time to open up.
April 2, 2018 - Wow, this is pretty great. Really tasty, balanced, complex, and well made (hat tip, Neil Collins; I probably shouldn't be so surprised, as I love Tablas Creek wines). 1st of 4 so I don't know if this has evolved or what, but this bottle is in a great spot. Medium(+) ruby to garnet color. Fantastic nose that seems to bring something new with each whiff, including earthy funk, black and dark red fruits, black tea, orange peel, smoke, dry leaves, black pepper, a bit of floral, and serrano or jalapeƱo pepper. Medium body, medium(+) acid and finish, with flavors of dark red fruits, orange peel, and spice. Pair with lamb, duck, bbq, carnitas, and so on; definitely versatile. I will definitely keep an eye out for this in future vintages. Well done.
October 28, 2017 - Good QPR

June 18, 2017 - Delicious value. Very balanced GSM. Will buy again.
March 26, 2017 - Just a really good tasting value.
February 4, 2017 - Berries, lots of them, some plum, a fair bit of tannins. Very drinkable now.
January 21, 2017 - new world rhone style blend, took about an hour for the alcohol to subside, but revealed a nice balanced red
January 12, 2017 - Delicious. What a great burger wine or a Saturday afternoon wine with cheese. Baby CDP from California. Aromas of dried fennel, pepper and dark fruit. Good balance, dry medium body. Dark color. Dark, juicy fruit flavor of blackberry and blueberry. Nice tannins with a graphite/black peppercorn mouthfeel. Well done.
