April 10, 2021 - This CdP kept surprisingly well up with a Brunello 2012 and an Amarone 2009. Fully mature, sweet, herbal, spicy. This a a real pleasure to drink. Good value as well.

September 15, 2020 - Medium red color wine with medium body. Good mix of tannin, light earthy flavors and long finale with complex flavors. Drinks very well with smooth finish,.

April 19, 2019 - Surprised by the low scores here, as we loved this bottle. It is uncharacteristic of a Chateauneuf. Comes off more like a Burgundy in that it’s more feminine, lighter bodied and textured than your typical CdP. Saw one other reviewer blind tasted it as a Burgundy and my wife (who is an incredible blind taster) did also. That being said this is an elegant well-balanced wine with a lovely, longish finish. Light enough that it can be enjoyed by itself or with food (usually I’d only drink CdP with heavier food). Traces of pepper but less so than typical CdP—not very earthy or leathery at all either. Very nice and will try to get more. Tasted great on day 2 and 3, so definitely decant.

January 21, 2019 - Really easy drinker - tannins in a good spot, nice amount of acidity, fairly juicy fruits - but ultimately there isn't loads going on. Thought it might be a little spicier/more full bodied.

April 9, 2018 - Drank over 2 days. In day 2 slightly better as a touch more smooth. Solid CdP, fruity, bit of spice, but not very complex or long. Quite similar to other 13 CdP’s like Grand Tinel or Vieux Donjon.

March 15, 2018 - Red berries, vanilla aroma. Potent, peppery flavour with lots of dried spices, raspberry, yet light body. Somewhat acidic with medium tannin.

December 18, 2017 - This is loaded with spices upon first pour but after a few hours in the decanter you get mouthwatering aromas and flavors of black and red fruit, with hints of hard candy and watermelon. The whole package is balanced out with good weight, nice cut, and lovely spices throughout. Decant.

October 21, 2017 - Red Châteauneuf-du-Papes (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): Cf. the CellarTracker Article link [lower lft] to get specific info for this vintage, including acclaim.

N: Closed; Some earth, berries, garrigue

P: LM body; almost swtish frt met by a SLIGHTLY tangy astringency which basically hold into the fairly LONG, VERY slightly spicy finish with a slight tanginess. NEEDS until '19, I'd guess, then drinking for several yrs more. Decent QPR @ this vendor's $25.95, who's now into a more recent vintage. [Nonetheless, late June 2018's wine-searcher still shows one listing @ $23.]
