    January 22, 2020 - Totally unexpected. From a Demi. Smells and Tastes like a Chinon or even an old-vines Beaujolais to me. Overwhelmingly red-fruited nose and flavors, with strawberry and even some cranberry. Very little dark fruits or wood tones. Fine grained, tight, but not tough, tannins. Will become easier but not a ton better over time. Hard to believe it’s a Pauillac.

    December 27, 2018 - Even more body, after a three hour decant this is showing even more depth. I still get the blackberry, coffee and slate, however, I also pick up some cedar this time as well. So long and memorable, this will age for many years. Drink 2022 -.

    November 21, 2018 - Decanted for an hour. Another stunning effort from a chateau that has been offering some of the best value in Pauillac. Blackberry, coffee, cherry, cedar, brioche and chiseled slate. A long finish and the Cabernet fruit shows a fine purity, with tannins that are silky and finely layered. This Clerc is more androgynous than your typical strong vintage. Like most Clercs since 1986, this will last awhile. Drink 2022 -.

    November 16, 2018 - Le Salon des Outsiders de J.M. Quarin (Edition 2018) (Paris, Hôtel Shangri-La): Nez : parfumé, d’assez bonne intensité aromatique sur un beau fruit net et d’une belle maturité (mûre, framboise noire), une touche de violette, une pointe de pain grillé et de notes de torréfaction.
    Bouche : l’entrée en bouche est souple sur un beau jus bien équilibré et d’une belle maturité.
    Corps assez ample, le palais délivre une trame élégante et distinguée grâce au terroir argilo-calcaire qui apporte de la fraicheur à l’ensemble. Il en résulte un beau jus racé, pur et complexe (crème de cassis, framboise noire, mûre, olives, tabac, graphite) sur une trame tannique plus structurée que d’Armailhac 2015 mais dont le grain reste très soyeux.
    Finale d’une assez belle longueur sur de la cerise noire et des épices.
    Note : 16,75/20 i.e. 93/100

    June 16, 2018 - Tasted next to 2015 d'Armailhac. Similar in terms of fruit profile, also quite expressive, but maybe a little more restrained, a bit more depth, more polished. Lovely ripeness of fruit, powerful tannins, good acidity. Very long. 92-93+

    May 21, 2018 - Floral and tobacco nuances pop right up before moving on to the elegant textured, black cherry, licorice and crushed rock characteristics found here. The wine offers energy and purity in its fruits with soft tannins in the finish.

    March 19, 2018 - Bordeaux 2015 in bottle (Zurich Arvi / Singapore UGCB): Classic, cool, blue fruit, lots of forest aromas. Very good mid range Medoc wine.
