May 8, 2019 - Very closed nose. Minerals, cherry, blackberry, rose hip, forest floor, sweat, pepper.

Crisp acidity, menthol. Drying tannins that don't really seem to carry anything. Surprising length if you look at the timidity of the nose and the simplicity of the flavor.

Not bad, but not one to remember.

March 31, 2019 - Medium ruby color. Aromas of dark and dark red fruits, smoke, tar, anise, graphite, dried spices, and a touch of floral. Medium body, acid, and finish, with flavors of dark red fruits, black tea, orange peel, and spice. There's a light grip but it's drinking well now. Pair with steak, burgers, or BBQ.

December 14, 2018 - This is drinking beautifully right now. 89 is possibly kind but it is really appealing. Moderate color. Wonderful nose. Good mouth feel. Delightful balance between old world/new world fruit and acidity. Very appealing. Nice though moderate finish. This has really come around.

November 11, 2018 - Quite open, juicy, everything alright, but needs some time to grow and to gain body; will not reach the level of the '10, I think.

August 16, 2018 - First of a new vintage of this go-to everyday claret.
A core concentration of full plum with wild berries, floral nuances and smooth if dry tannins. Slips down a treat. Simplicity at its best. Already have a case of the 2016 to follow up in a year or two.
For drinking based on past experience up to 6 years from vintage (but won't last that long)! 88+
