October 8, 2023 - High VA initially took 2 hours to fade but never really left. This really shows its 15%. Runs a bit hot on the nose and the finish. Fruit is muted on the nose… and on the palate this moves quickly through the fruit to a bit of a harsh middle. Not my favorite. Drank alongside a 2015 reserve de leoville barton (2nd) which showed better balance.
March 19, 2023 - This was so good, definitely cellar worthy. I plan on getting more, it was full bodied with medium tannins. The fruit was perfectly blended and had a very long finish. I hear the 2016 is just as good if you can’t get any 2015.
March 6, 2022 - Love it. Breath about an hr
October 1, 2021 - 30+ minutes open in the bottle. Dark red color. Definitely drinking young but best value on the wine list. Nose initially smells of the General Mills plant in Buffalo, which leads to dark cherries and forest floor. Medium plus depth that is well balanced between dark fruit, earth, and smoke. Medium finish. Love this producer but tough to find in the US.
June 16, 2018 - Lots of concentration and richness on the nose - slightly jammy red and dark fruit mixed with spices, liquorice, mocha and notes of chocolate. On the palate a bit less dense, good acidity, pretty well balanced, polished tannins. Good length. 90-91+
June 1, 2018 - Bordeaux 2015 in bottle (Zurich Arvi / Singapore UGCB): Not a fan of Dassault so this was a nice surprise. The wine is on the lighter side for a right banker, but I like the elegance here. Blue fruit, mint aromas. Great wine for food as well.
May 21, 2018 - Dark in color, the texture is lush, the fruits are ripe, fat and juicy, there is weight and density, with a finish of dark cherries, espresso, chocolate, and coffee bean.
March 12, 2018 - Dark in color, the wine is lushly textured, with loads of fat, ripe, dark cherries, smoke, espresso and licorice. The round, finish is filled with dark chocolate, black cherry and coffee bean notes.
March 8, 2018 - Better freshness coming out of Saint Emilion (Actually two locations: UGCB in New York (1/2018) and in Saint Emilion (12/2017)): This blend of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits somewhat candied red fruit on the nose, with a smooth and pleasing palate albeit just a tad drying on the finish. But overall, a pleasurable drink!
February 6, 2018 - UGC Tasting Amsterdam 2/5/2018: A real surprise! A bit severe in the nose, than a full, concentrated taste with some mint, classic in every good way; give the tannins some time to smoothen.
