June 5, 2023 - I am willing to assert, on the basis of a single experiment, that this is not the world's perfect pizza wine. The pizza highlighted the wine's dusty tannins, austerity, and unexpected grapefruit-rind acidity. I still believe that the wine offers a lot for little money, but it could use more time and a more complementary partner.

May 29, 2023 - Rather imbalanced and syrupy, the merlot not dry as in most other bordeaux and the 1/4 cab franc unable to add enough spice (acid, gravel, etc.). A bit of a grapy nose for something 8y in.
Still, pretty nice washing down sirloin, more than other menu items. I would however be bummed to have bought a case.

March 18, 2023 - In Castillon just east from St.Emilion nowadays wines are made comparable to a very good St.Emilion. In view of the vintage and reputation of the owners this wine is slightly disapointing for me when compared with other notable Châteaus as Ch.d’Aiguilhe. Deep colour with some evolution. Herbal and peppery on the nose and mouthfilling on the palate but lacking generosity with some harsh and dusty tannines. Nice enough, but I have better examples of this excellent vintage in my cellar. Maybe better with some age, but I am not sure at all.

December 2, 2022 - Still tannic, even with a long decant, but drinkable, and behind the tannins there is caramel and spice (cinnamon, cloves). Nice balancing acidity, classical style. it should fill out with more age but it is already enjoyable, and a killer bargain.

November 9, 2022 - Toasty with raspberries on the palate. Nose is full of minerals.Lots of earth here. Tannins now well integrated. But still some more time to go.
