January 14, 2024 - We opened this on a cold winter day in Houston (a rarity) alongside a white chicken chili. I know, I know.... Not typical, but oh was it a great pairing that contrasted well against the hand roasted hatch chilis that my wife put in the chili. Lots of fruit; dark cherry, currant, black berry. The tannins could use a few more years in the bottle, but would still highly suggest you enjoying a bottle today if you have a few more stashed away in your cellar. Decant for 1.5-2+ hours if opened in 2024/2025.

February 16, 2023 - A lovely vintage for this wine that's just a touch below the great '16 in quality. Excellent depth of flavor for a second wine with a touch of smoky purple fruit and still fairly firm tannins. Another couple of years and this will improve. 92+

December 5, 2022 - An absolutely delightful and also fun wine to consume today, showcasing both the 2015 magical vintage and also the fine and steady hand of La Mission. A playful wine in fact, with young vines and multiple flavors, some too young or tannic and some delightfully rich (cab franc) hitting against each other in a very nice melange of high, dark , rich and strident notes—all after a mandatory 2-3 hour decant. Will last for many years in top form.

November 21, 2022 - Really nice black and blue berry taste. Great balance and tannins.

March 20, 2022 - Quite the pleaser! Surprisingly delicious now with a short decant, showcasing beautifully the promise of the 2015 vintage. Dark, dark red, almost black, hue with a very smooth melange of mixed dark berries on the nose; on the palate, a deep dive into rich brambly yet smooth dark cherry, currant, a hint of violets and unmistakable hints of that smoky undertone of LM —yet a different wine. Not one for complexity, but the youthfully appealing palate so clearly demonstrates the fine hand in vinifying this cuvee. And it is so much nicer than some of the over extracted Rolland style second wines elsewhere. A definite QPR of high order.
