April 13, 2024 - Bordeaux for Napa lovers, but far better than Napa. I've commented three other times on this wine so will simply say it's luscious, complex, provocative, and profound. It'll surely age well and benefit from tertiary flavors. Yet it's fully enjoyable now and, frankly, a great value at this stage. The only California Bordeaux blends I'd pick over this are Ridge MB and Dunn HM, and both need 20+ years in good vintages. This extracted beast performed on release. Normally not my style, TR really rocks my world. A great wine.

March 29, 2024 - Admittedly, we are drinking this early but Kyle said that I should ignore the ready to drink report. We opened it because the 16 Napa cab we popped first was way off. It drank like an 18. Just not ready.

So, this is barnyard and leather; freshly oiled leather; perfume. The palate is mid weight and the tannin lifts to the upper palate. It’s definitely not ready but it has so much potential. The nose will become mesmerizing. It’s on the verge today. I get a richness. Dark fruit and dry tannins. We agreed to open the next bottle on 3/29/29.

IF I WERE TO WRITE THIS: We opened this bottle and the horse rode like a thoroughbred pony. We look forward to maturity and riding the highs and lows of this English saddled stallion. Tannins on the bridle will continue to develop into the reins. This is a bottle for the stalls. Get your pitchfork ready and clean the stalls this horse is worth the wait… f*%k you Jim!

    Get a bower Leah. 😁

February 25, 2024 - DC Dinners and Tastings; 2/24/2024-2/26/2024 (Washington, DC): Dark fruits, cedar, anise, tarragon, vanilla on the nose. Medium + intensity of aromas. Smells like it's going to be big. Pretty tightly wound on the palate at this juncture; with flavors of ripe blackberries, ripe dark plums and ripe black currants. Still quite young. The secondary flavors are integrated well with the fruits, and their intensity is a very nice medium +.

Medium + body with medium + acid and medium + tannin. Developing. Hold for 3-5 more years; at which point it should really be good.

February 2, 2024 - This should/could have been better. Bottle was first of my futures. Oddly brickish colour when poured and decanted for such a young wine. First sip was weirdly rich and somewhat off balance. Tasted side by side with same vintage DuMol Ballard cab - which was fresh and delicious from the moment if was poured and just kept getting better. After an hour or so the TR seemed to settled down but with a pronounced wood someday/toasted oak nose you might expect from a rich Cal cab?. The wine needs to be decanted and wait a little - now after a few hours it’s delicious just not sure what to make of its future.

February 4, 2023 - Barely drinkable as it was so sweet and ripe, syrupy . Impossible with food at the moment. Hopefully will sort itself out over the next decade.

September 10, 2022 - Nose: raspberries, leather, roses and sour cherries. Intriguing mix of dark, red and floral scents.
Palate: ripe cherries, gingerbread, blood oranges with a mass of smooth tanins. Creamy and layered.
Unique style, unlike anything else I tasted so far. So ripe and elegant at the same time.
Though I usually wait 10 years on my bordeaux before to pull the cork, this one is already good to go. Luckily got a few more in the cellar - curious to see how these beauties will age

August 15, 2022 - In the category of hedonistic Bordeaux blends enjoyed young, this wine tops my flavor chart, ahead of New World contenders. Why? I think it's the deep, raw oxblood flavor. What does oxblood taste like? No clue, honestly. In dress shoes, oxblood is a darker shade of red with more brown than purple. I imagine the equivalent here, where oxblood is deeper and darker in flavor than raw beef/blood. Perhaps more like bone marrow. The rich, bloody flavor of TR is unlike any other wine I know, and I love it. FWIW, I thought this tasted magnificent without decant. I didn't enjoy it more after three hours of air. It does not need aging in order for its extreme depth and savory notes to be enjoyed in their full glory; they're all here today.

July 20, 2022 - Awesome lineup at Anhelo in downtown Phoenix. If there ever was an interesting menage de trois lineup for a Wednesday night, this would certainly fit the bill. Wines were paired with Truffle risotto with pork loin - yummers. Didn’t expect the first two to pair well as I was really focused on the ‘15 TR. Didn’t spend too much time analyzing the wine, simply enjoyed the company and dinner.

2018 Calon Segur- had to check back in

    2018 Pichon Lalande Comtesse Reserve

2015 Tertre Roteboeuf - upon PNP I was disappointed but knew this would need time. After about two hours this wine started to show its goods with the last sip being the best. Initially the wine was more savory/earthy flavors with very good structure but the fruit would not show itself to the level I would have expected this right bank more showy style of wine. That all changed and two of us could not get enough as the fruit came through and provided a beautiful rainbow of flavors with beautiful well integrated structure to deliver a great wine. Really enjoyed the wine to the point it would be a go to in the future had I been smart enough to buy more than one (stupid as I never buy one of anyting).

April 2, 2022 - Truly incredible! Hot at first, but the alcohol blew off after 15 mins… great nose, great mouthfeel. This is going to be a real joy in 10-15 years!

February 27, 2022 - Beautiful wine, drank over the course of 3 nights and it was best on the last night. Had some tobacco notes comes out, would have guessed it was a Left Bank in a blind tasting, I think. Glad I have two more.
