September 1, 2021 - Oak and sweet tobacco notes waft from mixture of berries grown from clay and rich organic soil that merge with the perfume flower of pink peonies and white hydrangea. The berries are blueberries, black currants, and hints of black raspberry. Medium bodied , I double decanted two hours before drinking.

July 3, 2021 - Blind tasting with the three amigos (chez moi): has not budged a bit in three years. After ten hours and a decant it opens up really really beautifullly to some milk chocolate, wet pipe tobacco, spice box, dark plums and a savory licorice touch. But first 8 hours this was really not showing at all - mostly grip and astringent tea and licorice on the palate. I loved this!

June 20, 2021 - The level of care in the winemaking is very much apparent in this wine. The nose is savory and beguiling, both elegant and powerful with a rustic character with tertiary notes just beginning to show. The fruit profile is slightly underripe black fruit with some tart red fruit: sour cherry, black plum, red plum, cranberry with just a barely noticeable herbal green note. The secondary and tertiary notes here are quite nice with black pepper, leather, tobacco cocoa, and saline. Hold the wine in your mouth for 10 seconds or so and you will be rewarded with a crescendo of beautiful baking spice. Acid, tannin, alcohol and body are in perfect balance. 2002 was a cooler vintage in Bordeaux, and if there was one thing I would change here it would be to dial up the intensity of fruit just a bit. 3-4 hours of air is recommended as it helps the fruit to come to life. It was a treat to drink this wine and I hope to be able to compare this to a riper vintage one day soon.

    December 5, 2020 - (Bordeaux 2002 tasting)
Medium-fullish, elegant nose. Pure. Black currant, gravel, tobacco and mineral. Almost perfumed. Gently oaky. Very nice.
Medium-fullish, elegant palate with ripe and mature tannins. Quite dense. Very good concentration and harmony. Plum and black currant. Almost sweet in finish. Balanced and long.
Clearly one of the over-achievers of the vintage.
