October 11, 2019 - Fully ready to go, the wine is medium-bodied, bright, crisp and focused on its red berries, forest leaf, cedar and tobacco character. This is a bit on the lean side. Fans of old-school classic Bordeaux will probably like it more than I did.

October 6, 2019 - 5th of 12, decanted an hour, perfect cork and level, little changed from my earlier notes, last in December 16, very satisfying, glossy Graves, tad modern maybe, still fruit forward, more power but less complexity and grace than previous night's Haut Bailly 01, should continue to develop over next 15 years. F+ (18).

    April 10, 2019 - Note: I use a scale on which 85 represents a very good wine.

Outstanding! Perhaps the best bottle I have had in many months.
Perfectly balanced, fruit perfectly pleasant, sweet tannins (a term I have not used in some time). Liquid sunshine.

This bottle reminded me of why I drink wine.

Decanted, but I think letting it breathe for a while would be enough.

I have three more, and I will be drinking them soon. Why wait?

March 5, 2019 - 2002 Bordeaux at Piccolino (Piccolino, Exchange Square, London): This was quite red-fruited, leafy notes, a touch lactic. Medium bodied, lightly savoury on the palate, soft tannins, finished a touch flat. OK, but possibly not representative.

February 25, 2018 - Domaine de Chevalier Birthday lunch (McLeay Street Bistro, Potts Point): First obvious oak here, slight vanilla backed by cream, slightly unripe black and red currant, leather. Juicy, fleshy, tannins quite resolved though it's still surprisingly broad. Impressive considering the vintage.
