    July 10, 2020 - Deep garnet color with a slight brick hue. Perfumed blue fruit nose. Flavors of blueberry, cranberry, dark cherry, and strawberry preserves with a touch of cinnamon. The fruit is pronounced offsetting the still string tannins. Pleasant to drink now with at least another 5-7 years ahead of it. Best with a good hour decant before drinking. Punches way beyond its weight. Excellent value.

    Decanted 30 mins prior

    Fading red on rim, light to medium body.

    N....rustic charm, nice farm outdoor/summer field aromas rather than farmyard proper, I'd say.

    T....gentle floury tannins, lovely texture, it got better with longer air exposure; a tannic grip, Nose characters are reflected in mouth: bramble, thyme, a quality Dry red. Easy-drinking red made in a serious fashion, but no proper really interesting complexity here. I'm not convinced cellaring it for another 5 yrs, say, would result in significant improvement.

    VFM?.....feels worth £15 - 20.00

    November 18, 2018 - Ordered off restaurant wine list. Not decanted. Served in Riedel burgundy stemware. Drank beautifully accompanying veal ragu pappardelle, then garganelli with braised rabbit and roasted mushrooms.

    November 14, 2018 - Lea and Sandman, London.

    Tasted this in 2 stages....

    First night it was tight, taut, fresh with high acidity, tart and odd, just too young. All this even though I had decanted it, it was at room temp. I marked it only 85/100.

    Following night.....decanted again after stored in bottle with vac vin pumped out.....Much better, acid still fresh and it seems too young again but the fruit opened out charmingly; body seemed fuller, just a more drinkable wine, it obviously needs a lot of air and time to settle on the table/in the glass.

    Good wine, I'd buy it again in good Lange vintages. VFM? Can't remember what I paid for it in August 2018 but it feels like a £25-£30max direct from Merchant wine. Needs cellaring, won't open next 2014 bottle until 2020

    April 20, 2018 - The 2014 Sottimano Langhe Nebbiolo is aromatic and chock-full of energy. Dried rose petal, raspberry and baking spice aromas meld together in a beguiling bouquet that has delightful prominence. In the mouth the wine is medium-bodied and bursts with refreshing acidity that provides lift to red fruit flavors and triggers the reflex to immediately come back to the glass for an additional taste. Another great bargain of a wine from Sottimano, and one of my go-to crowd pleasers. Drink now or hold.
