Community Tasting Notes 7

November 1, 2022 - Bought a bunch of these a few years ago on closeout ($22) and just fetched them from storage for current drinking. These are showing so well, red fruit and blood and guts on a easygoing frame. This is early prime time; the raspy tannins of yore are not much of an issue now. Holds up well on Day 2 as well. Comes off cleaner and more in the zone than a recently tasted 2011.

December 11, 2021 - This needs air - 1st nite was stewed prunes and sweetness... 2nd nite it unfurled and opened up. Classy, pedigreed French Syrah. Yum.

May 6, 2019 - Just fantastic. Not a Cornas, but not not a Cornas - everything about this wine says Cornas, from the savory, meaty, stemmy nose to the deep and clear-running dark raspberryish fruit, to the stony finish and clingy and raspy tannins. This maybe doesn't have the full depth of Gilles's proper Cornas, but it's super terrific and convincing.

July 7, 2018 - Pnp. This is all structure and future promises and potential right now. Intensely pure and vibrant purple violets, sweet muddled purple and black berries, burnt rosemary and liquid granite. Plenty of stuffing and weight here too but this is also wound tight as a fist right now waiting for another 10-15 years of sleep to show its potential. This will make a beautiful and balanced wine with time.
