June 8, 2019 - PnP great wine that is starting to come of age. Not sure where it goes from here but have one more I will wait 2-3 more years to see where it goes.

May 23, 2019 - Pulled three fantastic wines the night of my daughter's graduation from college for nursing. 2014 Carter Three Kings, 2012 Black Cordon Reserve Cru and 2016 Vice Versa. Five people had the opportunity to drink these great wines and all were in alignment. Carter, Black Cordon and than Vice Versa. The Carter was the clear favorite with quite a bit of debate between the other two.

The Carter is a beast and stood above the others. The nose is fantastic and punches you in the face, in a good way. Dark cherries, blueberries with some cocoa. Long smooth finish.

The Black Cordon (Paul Hobbs consults) has a dark fruit nose. Teeth staining heavy dark fruit and a long finish.

The Vice Versa was wonderful in it's own right. Not as heavy or fruit forward as the other two wines. It leans more old world versus the others and will definitely improve with age.

A great night to remember and three wines that I am looking forward to trying again in the future.

April 12, 2019 - Very nice. Black and red fruit, softening up, modest but sufficient acidity. Losing some of the baby fat and firming up nicely. Down to the last bottle and wishing I had more...

March 23, 2019 - I have not loved all the 2014s as they've aged, but I absolutely love this wine. While some have come loose and lost steam, this has integrated beautifully and gained an extra level of depth. As with most Carters, it's not just the fruit that's out front: it's the tannin, acidity, even earthy elements, which combine to make this awfully delicious.

Dark red in color and full in body, nose of blackberry, black cherry, espresso, and cedar, with a hint of fresh flowers. Tastes of blueberry, cocoa powder, leather, and gravel, with a sweet and lingering finish. 14.9% alcohol. Drink in next few years. These wines, though modern, are incredibly balanced - and oh so delicious.
