October 11, 2019 - Well my poor old Henri has seen better days. 19 years and pretty much had it. The 2000 was not a great vintage and I feared this one might disappoint. The fruit has faded but it has a rather unpleasant jammy and slightly acidic taste. Missed by about 5 years I suspect. Knowing just how lovely a good St Henri is to be enjoyed, it's disheartening to see this one down the drain.

November 20, 2016 - Very bright fruit and tannins, great wine with many years left.

May 19, 2016 - Aged very gracefully indeed. The dark fruit was still there, the wine was so well balanced, nice acidity. Shame it's the last one but it was great

April 24, 2016 - Excellent wine. Amazing coconut and berry aroma. Smooth and long.

February 16, 2016 - Tight and lean upon opening, but opened up to show purity of fruit, loose-knit, totally integrated tannins, and moderate acidity. A lovely wine without structure or concentration to improve, but drinking nicely now. Pure to its origins.

(Penfolds St Henri Shiraz) Great depth to the nose here. Plenty of oak still showing, but a gamey, spicy complexity shows also. Moderate, more restrained style on the palate. Midweight, balanced, but with a core of powerful tannins, enveloped in a soft, seductive texture. To be critical, lacks focus and precision. But very good, nonetheless.
