August 7, 2019 - Over two days, alongside the 2016 Sénéjac and Labégorce. This wine, while modernly styled, features notably more substance than either of the Bordeaux. As such, it served as an excellent benchmark in evaluating those wines. Notably pure on the first day, unmasked by oak, judiciously extracted, non-jammy, and reasonably integrated alcohol. The wine showed more fruit on the second day, bordering on berry liqueur, while retaining its structure and overall balance. Delicious!
August 21, 2018 - Decanted for two hours. Served slightly chilled. Garnet red initially upon pouring into the carafe, deep violet when exposed to air. Dark fruits, violets, fig and cassis on the nose. Cherry, blue fruits, cranberry, dark chocolate and raspberry flavors were predominate with layers of baking spice, white pepper and cinnamon intertwined. A medium full mouthfeel led to a balanced, refined and elegant texture followed by a silky smooth finish. A wonderful expression of Alexander Valley fruit produced during a challenging year in California wine country. Agree with the 93 point rating by WE. Excellent QPR.
August 5, 2018 - Excellent Cab! Full body, mellow tannins, characteristic cab taste.
December 16, 2017 - Solid wine, but lacking a pizazz. Feels a bit thin. Tasted side by side with a 2013 Faust, Faust wins but at a higher price point.
October 17, 2016 - - Narrow texture with a medium finish.
July 16, 2016 - Wow, fantastic cab at this price point. Enjoyed thoroughly with marinaded pork chops. Highly recommended under $30.
February 20, 2016 - Lacking fruit.
December 27, 2015 - aromas of fresh bundles of berries and clay, big and bright upfront, with grippy tannins and fresh flavors of blackberry, cherry and violets, restrained character, shows strength through the mid palate, pleasant altogether, bright acidity
October 4, 2015 - Pleasant, fruit well balanced with acidity, however tannins are distracting and a bit strong. Too early? Next bottle in 1 year. Very good QPR.
