    March 17, 2024 - From a 1.5L magnum.

Absolutely incredible. 25 years old, and still kicking!
Acidity is still bright & shining. Tannins have mostly resolved, but there is still just enough to show they’re present.

Unreal how that Viader Liquid Cashmere nose of perfumed violets, candied dates and cassis evolves and matures with time. The taste is incredible - red plum, cassis, leather, tobacco, and some mature mountain herbs. It drinks more like Bordeaux than it does Napa

This was quite a magical experience, as I’ve never had a wine more than 20 years old AND Viader’s Liquid Cashmere is arguably my favorite wine across multiple vintages. So glad we decided to open this one now, as the days are getting numbered.

June 6, 2022 - Still very nice although I felt it was much closer to the edge of the cliff than the bottle I had a couple of months ago. Drink up

May 15, 2022 - I have not opened a bottle in nearly a decade. This wine thrilled me when young, but now it is still charming even if getting tired. Too bad I kept a few bottles this long, still showing a bit too much tannin for the level of rich fruit.

March 24, 2022 - Drinking well for its age and enjoyed. Still plenty of fruit, some nice development of flavors, chocolate, coffee, mint. I would buy again at the right price (under 60)

October 22, 2021 - Very impressive. Smooth dark fruit, a hint of chocolate, long finish, elegant, but with a hint of richness. Drinking beautifully.

August 30, 2021 - Drank with colleagues. Served around 20-30 minutes after opening. Beautiful wine that kept evolving once poured in the glass. Notes of cassis, tobacco and leather. Too bad there were so many of us, as I would have enjoyed drinking this wine over the course of a few hours. I may get some more as it's still available here in Switzerland.

June 24, 2021 - From my posting on Instagram:

In Vino Veritas (in wine there is truth; people speak the truth when they are drunk), bottle #142 of my cellar sacrifices. A 1999 gem from Viader! At 61% Cab and 39% Cab Franc, this one had a fantastic nose and finish even after 22 years. Always a great wine from them, and this was no exception. 😀🍷🍷👍 👍 #wine #winelover #winelovers #viader #viaderwinery #napawine #napa #napavalley

May 22, 2021 - PNP in Copake last nite. Fairly intense, perfume-laden nose of earth, dark chocolate tobacco and black fruit. Appearance is dark ruby in color with a tad of bricking at edges of my glass. This remains a full-bodied, intense and concentrated wine, still with plenty of black fruit--blackberries, black cherries, plums--but also tertiary notes of earth, tobacco, cedar and spice. There's a very noticeable amount of menthol here as well. After awhile too, the fruit took on a bit of a pruny/mushroomy quality. Tannins still somewhat noticeable, but are soft and mostly resolved. All ingredients are very nicely integrated, and the wine has developed a savory, forest/mountainish quality to it that I find very attractive. Overall, drinking quite well and showing off its 22 years in impressive fashion, with still some good years ahead.
